‘The Middle East conflict is complicated by the injustices of the past, but the outlook for the future can be simplified by focusing on the expressed desires and actions of the Palestinians.

The Palestinians claim that they are resisting the Israeli occupation and that they want a state. O.K. - what land do they think is being occupied? Which borders are acceptable? Modifications of current borders? Before 1967? Before 1948? If the Palestinians decide that there is no room for an independent Israeli state, then we Israelis will continue our struggle to maintain independence.

On the other hand, if they decide that modifications of current borders can be negotiated, then we can work together for a better future.’
